Terms of use

Last updated 26 October 2026 · Questions? Contact us or email hello@studyhop.com.au

These terms are an agreement between you and StudyHop (ABN 49 670 495 397, "StudyHop", "we") for the StudyHop website and apps. By creating an account or using StudyHop you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent, guardian or school agrees on your behalf.

What StudyHop is

A study helper aligned to the school curriculum for Kindergarten to Year 12 (following the curriculum of the state, territory or country the family picks), with lessons, games, practice tests, exam-style papers, a buddy character, planning tools for teachers and progress views for parents. The lessons, answers and papers are generated by artificial intelligence and checked automatically. They are a study aid, not a substitute for a teacher, and may contain mistakes. Always check important work against your school's materials and your official curriculum.

StudyHop is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), the NSW Department of Education, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA), the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (WA), the SACE Board of South Australia, the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification office (TASC), the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) or any other curriculum or exam body. Names such as "HSC", "VCE", "QCE", "WACE", "TCE", "NAPLAN", "Selective" and "OC" are used only to describe the style of practice material. Where we follow a curriculum published under a Creative Commons licence (for example by ACARA, QCAA or TASC), it is acknowledged here as the source. We do not reproduce official exam papers or syllabus text.

Accounts

  • Parents and teachers must be 18 or over and give accurate details. Child accounts are created by a parent, guardian or school, who is responsible for the child's use.
  • Keep passwords and PINs private. Tell us if you think an account has been used without permission.
  • One family account covers the children listed on it; schools and teachers use their own accounts. Do not share accounts between families.

Acceptable use

Use StudyHop for learning. Do not try to get the tutor to produce harmful, hateful or sexual content, do not upload other people's personal information or copyrighted exam papers, do not probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service, and do not use it to cheat in a supervised assessment. We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Fees

Some features are free; others need a paid plan. Prices, what is included and the billing period are shown before you pay. On the website each child is priced by their school year. When a child moves to a new price band (for example from Year 6 to Year 7), the new price applies from the first renewal after the new school year starts, and we email you about 30 days before. Adding a child to a plan adds a part-period charge to your next bill. A founding discount applies to the first yearly payment only. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Because the service is delivered immediately, fees are not refunded for part-used periods, except where Australian Consumer Law requires it. Plans bought in the iPhone, iPad or Android app are charged to your Apple ID or Google account, renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and are managed or cancelled in your Apple ID or Google Play settings. Apple and Google handle refunds for those plans under their terms.

Your content

You own the questions, photos and work you submit. You give us a licence to use them to provide the service, including sending them to our lesson and answer service to produce an answer, and to improve StudyHop in aggregate, without names. Lessons, games, papers and other material StudyHop produces are ours; you may use them for personal study or, for teachers, in your own classes, but not resell or republish them.

Availability and changes

We work hard to keep StudyHop available, but it may be down for maintenance or outside our control. We may change or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that reduce a paid plan.

Liability

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Beyond those rights, StudyHop is provided as is, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for loss caused by relying on content StudyHop writes automatically, by interruptions, or by things outside our control. Where we are liable and the law allows it, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or refunding the fees you paid for the period concerned.

Privacy

How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time from the Parent page or by emailing us; this deletes your family's data as described in the privacy policy. We can close accounts for breach of these terms.
